Resident Evil: 0

Released in 2002, this is the last game (so far) in the Resident Evil series to use the clunky old RE style of gameplay (Resident Evil 4 uses an entirely different system altogether). Whether or not the upcoming RE5 will go back to this old style is yet unknown. But anyway! RE0 is pretty much the first RE game in the series, storywise (not chronologically). This game chronicles the events leading up to the Spencer mansion incidents from the original Resident Evil game, as seen through the eyes of rookie Bravo S.T.A.R.S. member Rebecca Chambers and ex-US Marine Billy Coen.

I am totally frustrated with this game, as the gameplay is just... awkward. I've played other RE games before besides RE4 (specifically RE2), so it's not that RE4's spoiled me. I just find it impossible to even move in this game. Trying to walk in a straight line becomes an exercize in futility: moving the directional stick-thingy in the direction to move forward results in Rebecca/Billy stumbling around like a drunken hobo. The only way I can get anywhere is by walking backwards. This is obviously A Bad Idea, as being able to see where you're going is rather helpful when there are things about that are trying to eat your face. Soooo... as soon as I can sucker someone else with more patience to play this game for me whilst I write everything down, I'll get started on this thing. Sorry!
